A Republican tells the truth about the GOP and deficits
Since 1981, the Republicans have only been serious about spending and deficit reduction during Democratic Administrations.
Reagan tripled the national debt and he is regarded to be a conservative icon. Between the two of them, Reagan and Bush 43 quadrupled the national debt.
In the words of John Kasich, Bush 43 and the Republicans in Congress squandered a $5 trillion surplus and doubled the national debt.
In contrast, Carter, Clinton and Obama all reduced the deficits they inherited from their GOP predecessors.
Now the Republicans are ready to do it all over again after railing against deficits during the Obama era. The Trump tax cuts will add anywhere from $1.5 trillion to $5 trillion to the national debt.
Earlier today, a Republican Congressman admitted to the long running GOP con on spending and the deficits.
“It’s a great talking point when you have an administration that’s Democrat-led,” said Representative Mark Walker, Republican of North Carolina and the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, a group of about 150 conservative House members. “It’s a little different now that Republicans have both houses and the administration.”
That’s all you need to know. Any questions?
