Do Nothing Deb Fischer Trails Dan Osborn
Dan Osborn has now taken the lead against Do Nothing Deb Fischer in the Nebraska Senate race by a 47% to 42% margin. The poll was conducted by The Independent Center and The Bullfinch Group between September 27 and October 1. Other polls have shown a close race within the margin of error.
D.C. Deb Fischer’s own actions verify that this is a close race. She has run a large volume of negative, dishonest ads and held a press conference in which she criticized Osborn. Incumbent Republicans running for re-election in red states like Nebraska typically ignore their opponents if they have a big lead. Fischer’s panicked reaction tells us all that this race is going down to the wire.
Fischer’s re-election bid is in jeopardy because she has been invisible over the last six years. She is rarely mentioned in the press, hasn’t held a townhall in seven years and has avoided the voters. Fischer isn’t holding any real campaign events. Instead, she is keeping a light schedule and merely doing photo ops around the state limited to small groups of supporters.
Fischer is also in trouble because she doesn’t have any accomplishments. Can anybody name them? In this piece, I will outline to you Fischer’s “signature” accomplishments. I’m doing this here because the Nebraska press won’t do it. Please like and share the article to get the word out.
Fischer voted 50 times to take away insurance from 20 million people and to end pre-existing condition protections. She has long enjoyed the luxury of taxpayer subsidized health care. Must be nice! The rest of us peasants have to put up with private health insurance.
In 2017, Fischer voted to raise taxes on Gold Star families. Somebody had to pay for her tax cuts for the rich and corporations.
She voted in 2021 against gradually raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour and in 2014 against a $10.10 hourly minimum wage.
She voted with Dementia Don Old Trump to add $8 trillion to the national debt after she promised to balance the budget. Fischer voted with Trump to add $4.7 trillion to the national debt before the pandemic. Why didn’t Fischer keep her promise to balance the budget when the Republicans held the trifecta in 2017–18?
Do Nothing D.C. Deb Fischer has opposed every border/immigration bill since he has been in the Senate. She doesn’t want a solution — she wants to exploit the problem for partisan political gain. Deb is part of the problem.
D.C. Deb voted to confirm the three Trump Supreme Court justices who voted to reverse Roe. Fischer supports an abortion ban without any exceptions for rape and incest.
Fischer has exploited her elective office to become a welfare rancher. For years, Fischer has been one of a handful of ranchers whose cattle has grazed on public land at a significant discount. The Fischers have paid approximately $100,000 less than market value on an annual basis to graze their cattle on federal land. This sweet heart deal is made available to less than 1% of Nebraska ranchers and costs taxpayers approximately $120 million a year.
This is a significant tax break for Fischer. As then Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Vince Powers said in 2012: “For those of you who have a mortgage and your mortgage is $1,000 a month, if the government says you only have to pay $50 a month, we’ll let the taxpayers pay the rest, that’s Deb Fischer’s deal…We don’t think just because you’re a wealthy rancher, you should be pocketing over $100,000 of taxpayer money.”
As was discussed here earlier, Desperate Deb Fischer has resorted to running a series of negative and dishonest ads against Dan Osborn. Her only “positive” ad is one touting an endorsement she received from Don Old Trump — an addled, convicted felon out on bail in four jurisdictions. I wouldn’t run ads about an elderly, mentally ill person endorsing me.
“Sen. Fischer embodies what’s wrong with Washington,” Osborn campaign communications director Dustin Wahl told the Nebraska Independent. “She puts her biggest donors over the interests of her state. She runs for a third term after promising to only serve two. She acts like she is entitled to her Senate seat, refusing to debate or hold town halls where voters and the press can hold her accountable. Nebraskans deserve a senator who listens to them and speaks for them, and that’s what they will get in Dan Osborn.”
Dan Osborn supports the constitutional amendment on the Nebraska ballot that will codify a woman’s right to choose until the twenty third or twenty fourth week of pregnancy. Osborn also supports legalized marijuana and aid to Ukraine.
Osborn wants to cut middle-class taxes and taxes on overtime pay, stop private-equity takeovers of health care companies, guarantee a right to repair farm equipment, cease handing out free stuff to the drug companies, and limit members of Congress to six House and two Senate terms.
Fischer promised to serve two terms. If Fischer is re-elected, she will be 80 at the end of her term. It’s time for Fischer to retire. Be Fischer’s term limit and vote for Dan Osborn for Senate!
I contributed to Osborn’s campaign and plan to vote for him. I would urge you to do the same. The Nebraska race could very well decide control of the U.S. Senate. Control of the Senate could decide whether any of Harris’ nominees are even confirmed.
There are other Nebraska Congressional races that may determine control of the Senate and the House.
Preston Love is running against Pete Ricketts for the U.S. Senate. Preston is a great guy and I plan to vote for him.
Carol Blood is running against incumbent Republican Mike Flood in CD01. Flood is an extremist who supported a personhood law like the Alabama law when he was in the Nebraska legislature.
Tony Vargas is taking on incumbent Republican Don Bacon in CD02. Bacon is a phony moderate who voted with Trump 98% of the time in 2017–18.
Daniel Ebers is running against incumbent Republican Adrian Smith in CD03. Smith is an election denier who voted with the traitors who attacked the Capitol on January 6.
A vote for the Nebraska Democrats and Osborn is a vote to end the toxic Trump era. Let’s end the antics, the hate and the gross incompetence of Dementia Don Old Trump. The Nebraska Republicans would enable Trump and his failed policies. We can do better. Now let’s get it done!
