Good Riddance To Elon Musk: The DOGE Bag
The New York Times committed journalism when it dropped a piece on May 30 that revealed Elon Musk’s history of drug abuse as recently as 2024. The only question was what he was on and who knew about it. Apparently a lot of people knew about it. The Times on May 30, 2025:
“Musk’s drug consumption went well beyond occasional use. He told people he was taking so much ketamine, a powerful anesthetic, that it was affecting his bladder, a known effect of chronic use. He took Ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms. And he traveled with a daily medication box that held about 20 pills, including ones with the markings of the stimulant Adderall, according to a photo of the box and people who have seen it.
It is unclear whether Mr. Musk, 53, was taking drugs when he became a fixture at the White House this year and was handed the power to slash the federal bureaucracy. But he has exhibited erratic behavior, insulting cabinet members, gesturing like a Nazi and garbling his answers in a staged interview.
He also took Ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms at private gatherings across the United States and in at least one other country, according to those who attended the events.”
Don Old Trump permitted Musk to have access to some of America’s most highly classified information and national secrets. Musk accompanied Trump all over the world and even met with foreign leaders. He was by Trump’s side for months and dominated the early days of his presidency. Musk was almost the co-president. The sad truth is that a drug addict unmoored from reality destroyed large portions of our government.
These revelations coincided with Musk’s departure from the government and as the head of DOGE. Musk left Washington in disgrace as one of the most unpopular persons in America. He caused the Republicans to lose a landslide election in Wisconsin and failed in his effort to weed out and cut alleged waste, fraud and abuse in government.
The reality is that Musk and DOGE are a fraud and a scam. Musk initially promised $2 trillion in savings. And then he scaled back his promise to $1 trillion. Now he says he has allegedly saved $160 billion. Under the best case scenario, Musk achieved 8% of his stated goal. Quite the come down.
Any figure from Musk is suspect since many of his claims have been debunked by numerous media outlets and he withdrew many of them himself. Musk has refused to allow an independent audit of his alleged savings, exempted DOGE from the open records laws and refused to testify under oath in front of Congress. What is he afraid of?
Musk just randomly chopped things he decided should be chopped. Or let his callow computer nerds run roughshod through agencies and departments slashing this way and that without any understanding of what they were doing.
Musk’s failure is staggering.
It will cost $135 billion to buy out all of the fired federal employees.
Musk’s gutting of the IRS enforcement division will cost the taxpayers $500 billion per year in lost revenue due to increased tax cheating. That means that DOGE is a net money loser. It’s the most expensive domestic program.
Musk has cut:
NOAA — we aren’t launching sufficient weather balloons.
Fired the employees who monitor the nuclear arsenal and the bird flu. (Some of them were rehired.)
Fired thousands of employees at the Social Security Administration and the Veterans Administration. Both agencies are in chaos.
Cut medical research for cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Fired 280,000 employees, many of whom are veterans. DOGE fired more veterans than any organization in history.
Threw the National Parks into chaos through terminations.
Gutted FEMA just before the hurricane season. The agency — like so many others — is in chaos.
Musk has only cut spending that he doesn’t like. No Musk contract has been canceled. In fact, Musk just landed a new $6 billion contract. You have to look at this in the context of Musk’s $270 million contribution to the Trump campaign in 2024. DOGE is a corrupt pay for play scheme.
Incidentally, Musk has hoovered up a staggering $38 billion in government contracts and subsidies during his career. He built his wealth on the backs of the taxpayers.
There were no cuts to defense spending. It probably comes as no surprise to learn that Musk has several lucrative defense contracts.
Musk will probably be best remembered for the deaths of millions of poor people around the globe. According to Nicholas Kristoff of the New York Times, his cuts will ultimately result in 3 million deaths in Africa. It’s quite a legacy.
Nebraska U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts was a big fan of Musk and DOGE. Nonetheless, Ricketts admitted there was going to be an “adjustment period.” He went on to say: “And if we’re making mistakes, we’ll go back and fix it. But I believe what they’re doing is the right thing to make sure that we’re getting our spending under control.” Ricketts even defended the destruction of USAID and the cuts to food aid.
Ricketts either doesn’t care that millions of children will die or he simply doesn’t know. Republicans — like Ricketts — get all of their news from the likes of Fox and other GOP state media outlets. His news sources don’t discuss Musk’s failures. Either implication doesn’t absolve Ricketts of the destruction and death caused by Musk and DOGE.
Ricketts is unpopular and up for re-election in 2026. Independent candidate Dan Osborn has announced that he will challenge Ricketts and has begun raising money. Osborn put a real scare into Deb Fischer last year.
A major backlash to Trump and MAGA is underway. The Democrats are winning big in 2025. This is the most under reported story in American politics. The mainstream press is addicted to a “Democrats in disarray narrative.” Despite our divisions, we keep winning elections. We are united against the threat to freedom and democracy posed by Trump and MAGA.
The tide is turning. Be confident going forward. Take nothing for granted. Keep working hard. Blue wave 2026!
Blue wave 2026! Let’s f*cking go!
