Important New Revelations on Russia Scandal

There was a very important story about the budding Russia scandal in the NY Times yesterday.

As early as May 2016, Trump aide George Papadopoulos was aware that the Russians had stolen thousands of emails that were going to be used to undermine Clinton’s candidacy. Papadopoulos bragged about this revelation in a drunken conversation with an Australian diplomat. This diplomat was so alarmed at this revelation that he reported this information to the FBI.

Here is why this is an important story:

1. The Australians were so alarmed by Papadopoulos’ claims that they took it to the FBI. Papadopoulos’ revelations show Trump team knew about Russian attack on DNC and did nothing. Instead, the DJT team met with representatives of the Russian government in June 2016 seeking dirt on Hillary Clinton.

2. FBI’s Russia probe wasn’t prompted by the Dossier. That rebuts a critical GOP talking point that has been repeated by the mainstream media.

3. The meeting between the DJT team and the Russians at Trump Tower in June 2016 now makes more sense. Remember when the DJT team told us this meeting was about adoptions? Why did they lie about this meeting? .

This also calls into question the NY Times’ reporting during the fall of 2016. The NY Times reported that Clinton was under investigation for the phony email “scandal” but the NY Times ran a piece in October that denied Trump was under investigation.

These revelations also further discredit former FBI Director James Comey. It was Comey’s eleventh hour letter on Clinton’s emails that opened the door to Trump’s controversial and tainted victory in the electoral college but Comey never revealed that Trump was under investigation for possible collusion with Russia.

Hopefully, we will get some answers to these questions from the Muller investigation and the potential Democratic Congressional majority in 2019
