Trump Is Weak And Overrated
Last week’s debate was disappointing. Let’s be honest with each other about it. However, we need to judge President Joe Biden by his entire body of work — not just ninety minutes on the debate stage. Biden bounced back well the next day and gave a great speech in North Carolina. Things weren’t as bad as the pundits made them out to be.
“Don’t day trade politics. It’s a sucker’s game. A guy from Queens out on bail bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade, said in public he didn’t have sex with a porn star, defended tax cuts for billionaires, defended Jan. 6th. and called America the worst country in the world. That guy isn’t going to win this race.” Stuart Stevens, Romney campaign manager and never Trump Republican.
Convicted felon Trump lied shamelessly throughout the debate without any push back from the moderators. Trump was increasingly incoherent and deranged as the debate went on, and his extremism was on full display.
The presidential debate makes it clear that a withdrawal from the race is warranted, and I urge convicted felon Donald Trump to do so as soon as possible.
The freak out by the mainstream media, elite pundits and the Democratic consultant class after the debate was unnecessary. The voters aren’t listening to these people and don’t care what they think. Neither should you.
“Been getting readouts of focus groups of undecideds. Kind of status quo results — about 40 percent end with Biden, about 40 percent end up with Trump and 15 percent for third party. It may be that voters saw what they expected to see tonight and doesn’t change race at all.” Jennifer Palmieri, former campaign staffer for Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Only 5% of CNN’s snap poll said the debate changed their mind. 81% said it made no difference. 50% of CNN’s own focus group of undecided voters in Michigan just said President Biden won the debate.
A Morning Consult poll was conducted on June 28 and it indicates that Biden leads convicted felon Trump 45% to 44%. A new 538/Ipsos poll taken on June 28, entirely after the debate, found that Biden leads by 3.2 pts, 47%-44%.
A new TIPP poll was released on July 1. It shows Biden leading Trump 43% to 41%. The last poll was a tie.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on July 3 indicated that the race is tied 40% to 40%. That’s a 2-point improvement for Biden, who trailed Trump 41 percent to 39 percent in an identical poll in mid-June.
There are other polls that are less favorable to Biden but this is still a very close race. The best case scenario for Trump right now is that he has a 2 point lead on a national basis. That is hardly insurmountable and doesn’t justify the freakout from the “liberal” mainstream media.
“Part of my understanding of what happened on Thursday is that we continue to be in a media dynamic where Democrats are held to a different standard than MAGA. Where our strength is underestimated, theirs overestimated; and while many in the media may have become inured to Trump’s bat-shit crazy extremism voters have shown us in election after election, particularly since Dobbs, they aren’t inured — they are horrified, disgusted, repulsed by MAGA and Trump. And while the media may be focusing on Biden’s struggles on Thursday night, many voters who watched the debate were deeply unhappy with what they saw with Trump — and for good reason. It was in my mind the craziest and most disturbing performance we’ve seen from Trump on the national stage since he began his candidacy in 2015. He is deeply unwell, unfit, extreme, dangerous. Choose you words. A rapist, fraudster, traitor, felon.” Simon Rosenberg
One off night doesn’t change the fact that Biden is the most legislatively productive president since Lyndon Johnson. One poor performance also doesn’t change the fact that the former guy is a convicted felon, serial liar and adjudicated rapist who is unfit for ANY office. “Joe Biden had a bad night. Donald Trump had a bad presidency.” Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
The polls, mainstream press and pundits have constantly overrated convicted felon Donald Trump. They have treated him as some kind of political savant since he pulled off his fluky, upset win in 2016. Trump and his MAGA candidates have consistently lost since 2018. The elite pundits have largely ignored Trump’s long losing streak and have treated him as nearly invincible.
At the same time, if you go onto the websites of the likes of the New York Times and CNN, you will see numerous stories about Biden’s political weaknesses, both real and imaginary. The pundits want you to believe Biden is in serious trouble, but in all reality, Trump faces serious opposition from within the ranks of the GOP. Those same media outlets have rarely reported on Trump’s weakness with the GOP base. I will do it for you since the mainstream press won’t.
There are no Fortune 500 CEOs supporting convicted felon Donald Trump. This is wholly unprecedented. Yale’s Jeffrey Sonnenfeld claimed Fortune 500 CEOs will be “reluctant [Joe] Biden voters” in November because they “truly fear” Donald Trump:
“The reality is that the top corporate leaders working today, like many Americans, aren’t entirely comfortable with either Mr. Trump or President Biden. But they largely like — or at least can tolerate — one of them. They truly fear the other.
Trump’s response to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and the 2017 Charlottesville Unite the Right rally lost him any chance of public support from these business leaders.
Trump’s plan for increasing tariffs and cutting billions in taxes without commensurate spending cuts “frightens” CEOs. Many CEOs will turn into “reluctant” Biden voters to prevent Trump from getting back into office. They don’t want the fabric of society pulled apart.”
Numerous other prominent Republicans don’t support Trump. Former Vice President Mike Pence doesn’t support him. I don’t blame him — Trump incited his thugs to kill Pence on January 6. The crowd erected a gallows and chanted: “Hang Mike Pence!”
Forty one out of forty four Trump cabinet members don’t support him. “I have made clear that I strongly oppose Trump for the nomination and will not endorse Trump,” former Attorney General Bill Barr told NBC News. Former defense secretary Mark Esper told CNN that he believes Trump is not “fit for office because he puts himself first and I think anybody running for office should put the country first.”
Two former White Chiefs of Staff don’t support Trump. Both John Kelly Mick Mulvaney will not be voting for him. Trump infamously told Kelly that our heroes who died fighting for our freedom were suckers and losers. Kelly said the following about Trump: “A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law. There is nothing more that can be said. God help us.”
Former House Speaker Paul Ryan doesn’t support him. “Character is too important to me. And it’s a job that requires the kind of character that he just doesn’t have,” he said. Ryan has also argued that Trump is not a “conservative” but rather an “authoritarian narcissist.”
These are the people how know Trump the best — they worked extensively with Trump on a daily basis when he was president. They are in the best position to judge his fitness for office.
Republican elites aren’t the only ones who oppose Trump. The convicted felon has faced a major revolt from rank and file Republican voters. GOP primary results indicate that 20% of GOP primary voters don’t support Trump. About 20% of Republican voters in the swing states of Arizona, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania cast a ballot for someone other than Trump.
Trump has underperformed in every single primary contest since Super Tuesday, consistently dropping in vote percentage in the face of a ghost challenge from Haley. Ever since Haley withdrew from the race several months ago, she has garnered a healthy protest vote. Her voters don’t like Trump and don’t want to vote for him in November.
Trump also did very poorly in the early GOP primaries. When he had opponents, Trump tallied anywhere from 50% to 60% of the Republican vote. This is alarmingly low because Trump is the equivalent of an incumbent president running for re-nomination.
Another consistent data point in the GOP exit polls was that anywhere from 25% to 35% of Republicans won’t vote for Trump in November. Even Fox “News” said that Trump can’t win with those numbers. There is Trump fatigue in the GOP and a significant minority of Republicans won’t vote for Trump in November.
Don’t get alarmed by some of the bad polling results for Biden. The Democrats have out performed the polls since Dobbs. The New York Times has admitted that it over samples Republicans because Republican are more likely to answer their phones. The Times also conceded that many of the Trump supporters they poll rarely vote. In fact, the Time admitted that Trump’s “lead” in their polls are based upon people who don’t vote. This is why some polls lean Trump.
There is an anti-MAGA majority outside of the red states. Trump has never once gotten more votes than his political opponent. Ever. And under his stewardship, the Republican Party has had historic electoral defeats in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023. The Democratic winning streak has continued into 2024.
Be confident going forward. Take nothing for granted. Keep working hard.
It’s America or convicted felon Trump. Choose wisely.
