Trump’s dangerous national security and foreign policy will get people killed

Most of the attention on Trump has been focused on his regressive domestic agenda. However, his early foreign policy and national security moves should give everybody some grave concerns as well.

Trump’s EO on immigration was poorly drafted and executed. It was amateur hour at the White House. Moreover, this order angered our oldest allies and encouraged our enemies. Jihadist groups were celebrating. This EO won’t make us any safer. It is a fiasco.

Just yesterday, in a phone call with the Mexican president, Trump threatened to send U.S. troops to stop “bad hombres down there” unless the Mexican military does more to control them itself, according to an excerpt of a transcript of the conversation obtained by The Associated Press.

At about the same time, White House National Security Michael Flynn issued a bellicose warning Wednesday to the Iranian government in response to its testing of a ballistic missile.
“As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice,”

The Washington Post reported about a disturbing phone call Trump had with the Australian P.M. Australia has been one of our most reliable allies for decades. Trump blasted Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over a refugee agreement and boasted about the magnitude of his electoral college win, according to senior U.S. officials briefed on the Saturday exchange. Then, 25 minutes into what was expected to be an hour-long call, Trump abruptly ended it.

Reports are only beginning to emerge about a failed military raid in Yemen where one American was killed along with 10 women and children. U.S. military officials told Reuters that Trump approved his first covert counterterrorism operation without sufficient intelligence, ground support or adequate backup preparations.

It appears to me as though Trump is just going off half cocked without appropriate preparation in the realm of national security. Unfortunately, this is reminiscent of the Bush 43 Administration. Trump and his team need to raise their game — and soon. Otherwise, more innocent people will get killed.
